I have a report that currently has it's data source from an excel spreadsheet. That excel spreadhseet pulls data from Salesforce. Instead of using Excel as a middle man, I want to pull the data right from salesforce. Is there a way to change the source from excel to the salesforce report that is currently feeding my excel spreadsheet?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Easiest way is to create a new query that connects to Salesforce. Then use Advanced Editor to copy the Source line. Go into your Excel file query in Advanced Editor and paste this over your Source line. You may have to edit some of the rest of the steps in your query depending on column names, etc.
Hi @kdeff6006 As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector, which pulls data directly from SF objects API, that one does not have the rows limitation SF reports has. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi,
as long as your excel sheet and sales force data table has the same columns you can change the source in Edit Queries.
