Hi Power Bi Team, as part of the security wave 1- one of the changes is no Azure storage accounts should have account keys. The current Power BI to Azure Table storage integration talks about using storage account key (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/azu...)
Is there a way to use service principal or managed identity to connect Power Bi and Storage accounts? Please suggest alternatives as this will now be discontinued.
All the above links talk about auth ways on other tools (other than power BI) -- Does Power BI have any other way to auth with Azure Storage: for example via service principal or managed identity? As part of security wave 1 work, Azure storage is going to remove key auth and will be allowing access only via service principal (or) managed identity routes. If powerbi does not support these methods, then we would have to use an intermediary service in between?
Hi @nadikkal ,
I can't reproduce your question due to my work environment, but I found some documentation for you that I hope will help.
Service principal authentication for Microsoft Purview | Microsoft Learn
Authorize access to blobs using Microsoft Entra ID - Azure Storage | Microsoft Learn
Grant limited access to data with shared access signatures (SAS) - Azure Storage | Microsoft Learn
Hope it helps!
