Input data YYYY-Qx

Hi

I have input data that has a column from excel that is the year and quarter (which is not Jan start) in the following format

2018-Q1

2018-Q2

etc.

How can I inform Power BI that this is actually a "date" and not some free form text? I believe I need it to be a date so I can use the trendline function.

I am very new to Power BI so apologies if this is very basic.

Thanks.

Hi andjwoo ,

You can change text type to data type in power bi, click Query Editor-> Transform-> Change data type to data.
