I'm new to Power BI and would like to know if it is possible to add a custom boundary layer to a map visual? (map or ArcGis Maps for power Bi)
I have a map showing car accidents as points on the map but I would like to add an overlay showing where the municipal boundries are.
There is no additional analysis needed, it is purely there as a visual reference.
I have this file available as a shapefile. Is this possible with ArcGis for Power Bi. I have no account on ArcGIS but if this is the only way to import a custom layer to a map in Power Bi, I consider to take an arcGis online license (only to use in PowerBi).
In the "ArcGIS Maps for Power BI" window, click on the "Custom Map" tab.
Click on the "Import" button and select the shapefile containing your boundary layer.
In the "Import Map" window, select the layers that you want to import and click "OK".
The boundary layer will be added to your custom map in Power BI. You can use it as an overlay on top of other map layers, such as the map visual showing car accidents.
I was not able to found the Custom Map tab, could you share an screenshot or instructions on how to get to that menu?
