Implementing OLS in a semantic model ( Azure SQL Server db ) leads to "Could not load model"

Hi guys

Maybe I am missing something very basic here, but I can't figure it out.

When I create a very simple import model in Desktop from an Azure SQL server database and implement OLS ( via tabular editor ), even just restricting access to a single column, the view-as role option leads to a "Cannot load model" "We couldn't connect to your direct query source or internal model. Double check... Either the user does not have access or the database does not exist"

A colleague of mine tried the same thing, with the same error.

I installed the latest version of PBI, but same error.

Possible related, but still baffling, is that the error message show a user id different from the user I am connecting the database with/am logged into desktop with.

It is the id from an account that is connected to Windows, so i Have no way of disconnecting it from the "Select account" prompt.

When my colleague tries she gets the error, but with her own user id.

I am used to working with OLS in AAS, which never caused me any trouble.

Anybody experience this before ?

Very silly...

After doing the same actions in Analysis Services ( Visual Studio ) I noticed that I have to select model permissions for the role and that certain permission ( anything but Read ) do not allow OLS.

I checked my PowerBI model and it still had None as model permissions. After setting that to Read the problem was resolved,
