Image overlay to filter

Hey all,

I have question that you might be able to solve.

For the current project i am working on i have a building layout with different rooms.

So i have a JPG of the building layout and i want that the user can click on the certain room and that the matrix will filter on the clicked room.

My idea was to fill all the rooms with shapes and let the shapes be the filter of the matrix.

But i can't see how this should work.

Is this the way that i should implement this? or is there a beter way?
