Hi all,
I am currently ttargeting to visualize machine data within a factory map with x,y coordinates by using the Icon Map Visual. (URL)
I was trying to import my own map of the factory following the instructions "Using a custom image as map background (12th July 2021)" shared on the icon-map blog (URL). Unfortunately I am challenged by the fact that the layout file (jpg) is only available on my local drive but not via a public URL. When just following the blog article with the public map referenced image it seems to work.
Does anyone know how a local image can be imported or used with Icon Map as Base Image?
Is there a special writing of the file path needed or any other option to import the image within the pbxi File and then just reference it internally?
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Speedylux
Hi @Speedylux ,
Sorry but Icon Map is not an official visual object made by Power BI, but a custom visual object made by another team. I am unable to find a solution for you through the official documentation.
If this visual object does not achieve your desired result, this might be a limitation set by the visual itself. You might need to reach out to the project's development team or check their documentation for any workarounds.
Best Regards,
Dino Tao

Hello @Anonymous ,
thanks for the reply.
My intention is to visualize data points (coordinates such as long/lat or local x/y) on a local map in the background) including functions such as zoom in/out, lasso etc. to analyze data according an individual selection.
Key element is really the local map image that is important. A transparent x-/y-visualization and a static picture in the background is clearly needed in my case.
Are you aware of any other visual, that allows this sort of functionality? From what I have seen most options fail when it comes to the integration of a custom image / map.
Would be amazing to see and learn more about any solution that fits to my problem.
Cheers,
Speedylux
