INFO DAX Functions Usage

Are these functions only permissible in DAX Studio?

no, you can use them in the Dax query section, the new section that was introduced in the last update that is below the data model view.

even better, you can combine them in the DAX Query view (or in regular DAX calculated tables), something you cannot do in DAX Studio.
