I would like to use a filtered list of email addresses to create a blank email to those addresses

I have simple data and a simple dashboard in the pbix that I am including in the link. I would like a button that generates an email using desktop Outlook or o365 mail or whatever default mail client is applicable on the user's workstation. I include all of those options but I am including them in my order of preference.

Is this possible with Power BI? I see a lot of methods to send an email automatically, but I want the email to open in the client so the user can fill in their information and hit send. This is something I have been doing for years in MS Access using VBA, and now I want to move over to cloud services, and Power BI seems like a good place to start. If there is another MS platform that is good for this, I am open to that too!

And if I can pass that Subject field over, that's awesome too!

And I understand that the user needs to make their selections. If I can get something working, I will work on the error handling next.

Hi, @jmkeuning

As mentioned in this article, you can achieve similar results by leveraging Power Automate, which can dynamically populate the subject, recipient list, and body of an email based on the data in the Power BI dashboard. For detailed steps to set up automated emails, you can check out the following documents:

Integrate Power BI data alerts with Power Automate - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

You can set up data-driven alerts in Power BI to trigger Power Automate flows. While this doesn't open the email in the email client for further editing before sending it, it allows the email to be automatically generated based on data and user actions in Power BI. You can check out the following documents:

Set data alerts in the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

While this solution doesn't open email drafts directly in the email client, it provides a way to automatically generate and send emails based on user actions and choices in Power BI

Hi @jmkeuning ,
You can achive this using power automate.
Once you hit the send email button power automate flow will be triggered. You can pass all the details from power bi to power automate when hit the button.
Thanks
