I want PBI to automatically assign resources to unassigned or new tickets

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently building a tracker on power bi and I wish to have a feature on which powerbi can automatically assign/designate resources to attend new tickets or unassigned tickets. Let's say for example:

I have two resources (list is in excel and connected to existing PBI). This will be updated everyday whoever are available.

User IDResource Name
MK12345Michael John
MK12346Chris Kyle

I want PBI to automatically assign them to all of the new tickets in my raw data. It doesn't matter if equal distribution or not.

Here's a sample raw data if you want to try. All are new tickets.

Hi @Newbie22 ,

According to your description, you want to randomly assign cases to people, right? Here are my steps you can follow as a solution.

(1)With power query, add an index column to Table2.

vtangjiemsft_0-1665733684667.png

(2)We can create measures.

Measure =
    RANDBETWEEN(MINX('Table (2)',[Index]),MAXX('Table (2)',[Index]))
Measure 2 =
Lookupvalue('Table (2)'[Resource Name],[Index],[Measure])

(3)Then the result is as follows.

If the above one can't help you get the desired result, please provide some sample data in your tables (exclude sensitive data) with Text format and your expected result with backend logic and special examples. It is better if you can share a simplified pbix file. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Neeko Tang
