How to use Map visualize with multiple bubble colors

Hello, I am interested in creating one map with multiple sources for locations on a map.  Based on the location type or source, I would like to have different bubble colors.  Is this possible?

For example, if we have a business location, I would like the color to be Blue.  If we have a client location, I would like that color to be green.

Thanks for DataNinja777's concern about this issue.

Hi, @bcap01

I am glad to help you.

Since you didn't give me some data to test, I assumed some data myself:

Ensure your dataset includes columns for latitude, longitude, and location type (e.g., "Business" or "Client").

In the report view, click on the "Map" icon in the Visualizations pane. Then Drag the "Latitude" field to the "Latitude" area and the "Longitude" field to the "Longitude" area.

And Drag the "Type" field to the "Legend" area. This will differentiate the bubbles by color.

Then customize Bubble Colors:

I have attached the pbix file for this simple example below, I hope it helps.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

Hi @bcap01 ,

Yes, you can create a map with multiple location sources and assign different bubble colors based on the location type. For instance, in Power BI, you can achieve this by preparing a dataset that includes the coordinates for each location (latitude and longitude) along with a column specifying the location type, such as "Business" or "Client." Once the data is loaded into Power BI, you can add a map visualization and assign the latitude and longitude fields to the map. By placing the location type column in the legend, Power BI will automatically differentiate the bubbles by color.

To customize the colors, you can open the format visual pane, navigate to the data colors section, and assign specific colors to each location type. For example, you can set business locations to blue and client locations to green. Additionally, you can adjust the bubble sizes based on a metric like sales or client count by dragging that column into the size field. This approach ensures a visually distinct representation of locations on the map, tailored to your requirements.

If you'd like to know how to do this in another tool or need further assistance, let me know!

Best regards,
