Hi all,
I have data and created a summary matrix of vaccinated and registered pets by pet type. I created a measure % Registered Pets Vaccinated to replace the values of Pet Type= Unknown to --. However, this replaced my total row value to -- as well. How can I replace the value if the Pet Type=Unknown but keep the total row untouched?
percent_registeredpetsvaccinated = if(contains('Data',[Pet Type],"Unknown"),"--",divide([number_vaccinated],[number_pets]))
Current output:
Pet Type | Number Vaccinated | Number of Registered Pets | Percent Registered Pets Vaccinated |
Cat | 5 | 6 | 83% |
Dog | 10 | 11 | 91% |
Unknown | 2 | 4 | -- |
Total | 17 | 21 | -- |
Desired output:
Pet Type | Number Vaccinated | Number of Registered Pets | Percent Registered Pets Vaccinated |
Cat | 5 | 6 | 83% |
Dog | 10 | 11 | 91% |
Unknown | 2 | 4 | -- |
Total | 17 | 21 | 81% |

Try:
% Registered Pets vaccinated =
VAR _Vacc =
DIVIDE (
SUM ( 'Table'[Number Vaccinated] ),
SUM ( 'Table'[Number of Registered Pets] )
)
RETURN
IF ( SELECTEDVALUE ( 'Table'[Pet Type] ) = "Unknown", BLANK (), _Vacc )

@PaulDBrown Thanks so much, really appreciate it! This worked, the only edit I did was I replaced blank() with "--".

This looks like a measure totals problem. Very common. See my post about it here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/DAX-Commands-and-Tips/Dealing-with-Measure-Totals/td-p/63376
