How to handle Empty Charts/Visuals

Hi,

I am running into this dumb issue that in some cases for certain visuals there is no data to plot. Such as for below Trip dashboard there are no alerts, so first visual which plots "Normalized Alert Count by Route" has no data to show.

Is there a good way to handle this? As its pretty bad to show an empty white space (ideally it should allow for a message to show when no data is available or allow for dynamic visibility)

@cyclist007 you can use the similar technique mentioned in this post.

I would  Kudos if my solution helped. 👉 If you can spend time posting the question, you can also make efforts to give Kudos whoever helped to solve your problem. It is a token of appreciation!

Thanks @parry2k , yes the workaround seem a decent option. Kudos to the quick response and providing the workaround.

Workaround Link: https://exceleratorbi.com.au/show-or-hide-a-power-bi-visual-based-on-selection/

Would just like to add the comment Jason Cockington makes is also very useful, if you wish to interact with that visual. As covering the entire visual does not allow using tooltips or drilling-down etc. (even this comment limits using the visual header). Have posted a screenshot at the end.

Hope Power BI comes up with a better inherint method to handle such basic scenarios.
There are a couple of ideas, please vote on them and hope they get consolidated:
