How to encrypt PowerBI dataset so no one sees the content of the pbix

Hello, Does anyone know how to encrypt PowerBI dataset so no one sees the content of the pbix. The use case is to give this dataset to someone who runs a salesforce job and then needs to refresh the dataset and run the report. They should just be able to refresh and see table without access to the data.

Please let me know if any questions

Thanks

P

Hi @Patfor ,

Here are some of my personal thoughts on your question:

1. This method allows you to use your own encryption keys for data at rest in Power BI Premium. You can manage these keys using Azure Key Vault. This ensures that only authorized users can access the data, and you can revoke access by revoking the keys.

Here is a document you can read: Bring your own encryption keys for Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

2. You can also upload your Power BI Desktop data to the Service side to apply sensitivity tags on Power BI datasets, reports and dashboards.

For more details you can check this official document: Data protection in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

The only way to prevent data theft is not to have data.  Encrypting is futile if they can "see the table".
