I have created an Executive Summary page within my report which contains the main KPIs and users want to only see 6 months of data at a time.
Is it possible to create a filter that only allows users to select 6 month time periods?
For example, I could have 1 slicer that would allow users to select the year, and a second slicer with options:
Jan - Jun
Feb - Jul
....
Dec - May
I have done some research and have found out about custom date slicers that allow you to create options such as previous quarter, last 180 days etc but this isn't quite what I'm after.

Have a single date slicer that is fed from an unconnected dates table, and use that as the beginning of the period. Then write a measure that calculates the appropriate value.

Thanks @lbendlin
After posting this, a few similar forum questions showed up in my recommended feed. Having worked through these and did some tweaking without really understanding the DAX but have made it work.
I found that the new date table had to have an inactive relationship to my original date table. I don't really understand why but that's the only way it returned the correct values
