How to create Power BI Power App write backs with Fabric Direct Lake

Pease only reply if you know the answer. (Frankly it is annoying and ban manners when members don’t read the question.)

I know how to create normal Power BI Power App write backs using composite semantic data models with a combination of import mode and direct query tables.

 

I am now using a Semantic Data model with Direct Lake tables and want to create a Power App write back.

Direct Lake does not support composite data models and a Lakehouse is read only and won’t support write backs.

 

I’ve seen YOUTUBE videos how to use Power Automate flow inside a Power App inside a Power BI, but it only works with Fabric Warehouse. It wont work for a Lakehouse.

 

Can I connect the read only Direct Lake semantic model as a local live connection, then added a relationship to a read/write Dataverse table. Or will it fall back?

 

Has anyone out there had any success creating write back functionality alongside Direct Lake semantic data models please?

    To create a Power App using Direct lake for write-back functionality, you can try to use Power Automate in combination with Dataverse.The relevant link is below, hopefully it will help you out:

      No it didn't help.

      Direct Lake does not currently support composite datamodels with Dataverse.

      It is possible to add a Dataverse Onedrive Shortcut, but it takes Fabric over 20 mins to replicate .... which is far too slow for a Power App writeback to show on a Power BI report. I want it to be instant.

       

      Same problem goes for a Power Automate.

       

      Perhaps you misunderstood the problem. It is easy to writeback to a table .... but I need the Power BI report to refesh instantly with the Power BI Integration.Refresh command.

       

      I know how to do it on non-fabric which supports composite data models with import mode and direct query tables. But Fabric Direct Query does not support composite tables.

        The only semi usable option is to have a SQL source (on prem or Azure) in Direct Query mode.
