How to calculate Quarter.Year growth

Hi.

Need help. I have this data set & I would like to calculate the Quarter.Year growth (Q1 2022 vs Q1 2021)

Format as below. I tried using time intelligence but coming up with error as it doesnt seems to recognise my quarter format

I am hoping to generate a quarterly bar chart showing the growth trend from 2021 till 2023 with Quarter.Year indication. So I can't split up the quarters

I tried to replicate your steps but I am stuck at creating the 'order'.

I click on new measure under table (2) but coming with error where the formula can't detect [Quarter.Year].
can you please teach me how to create this 'order' which is important in arranging my data

order is a calculated column, I think you are creating a measure, which is wrong

ok got it. but even after I created the order, how come my data is not arranged as per the order? its the same as per what you did...please advise.

Hi @aska215. Split your column "QuarterYear" in two Q1 and Year (but keep the original one). Then remove the Q by replacing Q by nothing. And now concatenate Year&number. You will get an "order" column in a way that you get the year before the quarter. So at the end you get 20211, 20212,20213 and so on...

sorry, don't understand. I am just a beginner trying Power BI to create charts for financials...

@aska215ok I think it is easier. Click over the name QuarterYear in the visual table

Hi @aska215

I think you should separate the quarter from the year. See if this video helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esf9Y33pY7c
