How to avoid a parameter select all columns in slicer

Hi everyone,

I'm developing a self service analysis dashboard.
Long story short, the user will select the column via a slicer and fill a table.

Now the problem is this:

The table contains the parameters and left and right there are two slicer, where the user can select the columns and built it's own table.
The problem is:

If no column has been selected either left or right, all columns of both parameter are in the table.

How can i avoid this ?

Thank you so much in advance, and if you have some tips for a self service analysis dashboard, feel free to share.

  • That's the standard behavior since the parameter behaves like a field, and the visual needs to have something there to show the visual's content. Unfortunately, when using parameter fields, you can't conditionally format them so creating a measure to show as white does that aren't selected is not in the mix as well.

    Hi AresB

    ray_aramburo Good share!

    For your question, here is the method I provided. You can try the following:

    "Table"

    Create measures. Determine whether the slicer is selected. If selected, display the data, otherwise the display will be empty.

    _id = IF(ISFILTERED('Table'[LOCAL]), VALUES('Table'[LOCAL]), BLANK())

    _name = IF(ISFILTERED('Table'[NAME]), VALUES('Table'[NAME]), BLANK())

    _values = IF(ISFILTERED('Table'[LOCAL]) && ISFILTERED('Table'[NAME]), VALUES('Table'[VALUES]), BLANK())

    Here is the result.

      hi Anonymous ,

      your method doesn't work in my case, i need to fill the slicer with the column headers, not the values of the columns.
