How to Make Date Filter Work in Columns for Matrix View in Power BI?

I have a matrix view, and a date slicer. When I select a month, I want the matrix to display all months' data from January 1 of the selected year's date up to the selected month. The filter works when I put the date field in rows, but not in columns. How can I make this work when the date field is in columns?

This is the filter I added to the matrix visual, and I set this to 'contains ‘TRUE’

MonthDateFilter1 =
IF (
    [Selected Month end] >= MAX ( 'FactTable'[YearMonth] ) &&
    [Selected Month Start] <= MAX ( 'FactTable'[YearMonth] ),
    "TRUE",
    "FALSE"
)
