How to Filter and Sort MoM Metrics by Ratio and Amount in Power BI Matrix Table?

Hi everyone,

I'm working with a matrix table in Power BI that includes an Amount column and Month-over-Month (MoM%) change over the last 5 years. I want to:

1.Filter the matrix by specific thresholds in both Amount and MoM%, so I can isolate months with unusual changes or high values.

2.Sort the table directly on the MoM% values or Amount within the matrix visual.

3.Compare performance across months and with other clients to identify anomalies or outliers.

Is there a way to implement this directly on the MoM page in Power BI (without jumping between pages or visuals)? Any suggestions on DAX measures, slicers, or visual-level filters that can help with this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Bhavyasree24 ,

Can you try with conditional formatting if it works i think

  • Very high % increases (e.g., > 50%)

  • Sharp drops (e.g., < -30%)

Go to matrix → Format → Conditional formatting → Select your rule logic.

Regards,

Chaithanya.

Any other way we can achieve this by creating any new visuals ?

@Akash_Varuna I have tried above way , but here i want to sort by both month and ratio, I want to compare the performance with prior months to determine if the previous month’s numbers were unusually high or how it compares with other clients.

@Bhavyasree24 You could try by using visual-level filters to set thresholds for Amount and MoM% directly in the matrix to isolate unusual changes. Create a RankX measure for sorting by MoM% or Amount, or sort directly using the measure in headers. Apply conditional formatting to highlight anomalies such as significant changes in MoM%. Additionally, add slicers for dynamic filtering and bookmarks for seamless navigation of filtered views.
