How to Change Data Source Power BI

What happens if you change the location or title of a data source file that is already connected to Power BI? then refresh in Power BI Desktop. The answer will be like the image below. Power BI will display an error description “Could not find file (file directory)”

Of course changing the file title or data source file location is the thing to do, for example you are faced with a situation like:

  1. Tidy up the data folder on the computer
  2. Sharing or handover of .pbx data to other people
  3. Replacement of laptop devices
  4. etc
To overcome this you need to make a few settings on the Data Source in the following way:
  1. Select Options and Settings on the File menu or by clicking the Transform Data icon
  2. Select the data source to be changed then click Change Source
  3. Select Browse to update the new directory
  4. Click OK (then the .pbx file can be refreshed)
