I have created a .pbix file whose data was loaded from a .csv file. I have added custom columns and measures to the only defined table. I now want to replace the .csv file with a new instance of it, so I thought I would create a .pbit file, open it, and populate it with the new .csv. I selected File | Export | Power BI Template and the .pbit file that was created is much smaller than the .pbix, which I assume is because the .pbit file does not contain any data. However, if I open the .pbit file, the data populates. I assumed when I opened the .pbit file that no data would exist.
Can anyone provide insight as to what I have done wrong or need to do to not have data populate when I open the .pbit file?
Thanks!
Hello @Jeff2Jets ,

@Jeff2Jets you should create a parameter for the csv file and use that parameter as a source to get the csv file. Save as .pbit and now when you open the pbit file it will ask for the csv file and at that point, it will read the data from the file that you will provide in the parameter value.
