How can I modify a Power BI dataset which is the basis of several reports ?

Hello,

I created a Power BI dataset from which I established several reports. I would like to know how I can modify this dataset, for example by creating new measures or importing other data to this dataset without breaking the connections between my dataset and these many reports.

Is it possible to edit the dataset on the Power BI Desktop app directly rather than on the app.powerbi.com website?

Could  you explain your answers and any steps to follow with the help of screenshots please? Thank you.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Good day

You should have a pbix copy of your dataset somewhere on your device, sharepoint or something. If you don't, just download the dataset from the powe bi workspace. When you edit that pbix file you can publish it as a new version like this:

You should keep all your measurements in your dataset under different measurement tables. This way you should be fine and keep all connections etc.

If you found this helpfull please give me thumbs up and if ths solved your problem please mark this as the solution.
