How can I add new period data to historic period data table that cannot be refreshed

Hi,  I am relatively new to Power Bi Desktop and still climbing the learning curve.  There might be a simple solution to this, but its eluding me in searching for it.

I am extracting Period data from different regions data quality reports and have used an append query (call it the Orginal Append Query) to combine them into a single Combine Region Period table.  Going forward, I want to add each period's data to the table without losing the previous data.

I have found a way to add the current period's data to the orginal append query by creating a new Append query and adding the Orginal Append Query name to the append list.  I have also turned-off refresh for that Orginal Append Query.  This allows me to add each period's data to the Combined Region Period table, making it into a Historic data table. However, if someone selects that orginal append query and clicks refresh, all of the historical information would be lost.

Is there away to copy the Combined Period data into a table that cannot be refreshed and add each periods data to this.

I hope this makes sense.

Going forward, I want to add each period's data to the table without losing the previous data.

Power BI has no memory, and no concept of global variables. You need to do that in the upstream system, either by keeping multiple files and combining them dynamically in Power Query, or by doing that appending in the upstream process step.
