Hierarchy slicer issues

Hello, 

I am trying to only have the option to select leafs (lowest level) of a hierarchy in a slicer, I have found that the native slicer does not allow for this, but I have been using the custom HierarchySlicer and it has worked very well except for one thing. When I click on a graph or a table on my dashboard, the selections in the slicer "disappear" (it shows as deselected) but the filter still applies. Does anyone know how to avoid this and be able to see the selections once you click away from the slicer. The native slicer allows for this but I does not work for what I mentioned at the beginning of this post.
