Help with X-axis tick mark labels

I have a report with a bar chart and I'm seeing the x-axis tick marks behave in a way I don't like.

First, when selecting a "wider" date range (top chart), the x-axis tick mark labels show for every 7 days.

Second, when selecting a "narrow" date range (bottom chart), the x-axis tick mark labels show a date and time. I'm confused by this because my date field is a date type and not a date/time type.

Is it possible to have the x-axis show the date (only date, no time) for each day, no matter what date range is selected?

Regards,

@rsbin Thank you. This in combination with changing the format of my Date field gave me the result I was looking for.
