You can refer to the following document to get data from the file link that hosted in OneDrive/SharePoint to design report. After you publish to power bi service side and update the data credentials, it will use the one drive to handle these source update.

Super UserAnonymous , Make sure the file is updated on onedrive. Overwrite and schedule a refresh in power bi service

How will this effect the local pbi file. When I open the file in Power bi desktop do I have to click on update or will this be done automatic?
