Help Creating Gross Profit Measure

I am in a bit of a situation where I am stuck trying to calculate Gross Profit. My Table isn't broken out to an ideal scenario, thus I am relying on some DAX to get this solved.

CATEGORY is the Driver

Thus, if CATEGORY = Sales then I need to subtract CATEGORY=COST OF SALES  from CATEGORY= SALES.

Then, If CATEGORY = DIRECT EXPENSES subtract from Gross PROFIT.

Problem is how the data is stored. If someone could help that would be great.

Use the calculate function to create a measure like

Calculate(Sales - Cost of sales, Category = Sales)

Or you can breakout the column into 3 new columns and then build a measure to calculate the values.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy for this case. I am provided with the all the category is one column and need to imbed some kind of conditional logic to look for when the categories are met.

Can you email a sample of your data?

I can work on it later in the day.
