Having a data filter (Date) used in one specific visual

Hello,

  I am having an issue with a existing data sheet that was started before I started at this company. There is two date columns : Date Opened / Date Closed. As I reviewed the data, I see there are missing dates in both columns through the years which make pulling certain $ figures hard. 

I have one date range that provides a more accurate dollar amount (Date open) but for one of my specific visuals, i need the dates to run off of the Date Closed. For pulling accurate approved dollar amounts, i need to closed dates as the work would be finalized and paid by this data.  How can I have one visual run off a specific date range if my date slicer for the page is the opposite date range required?

Please let me know if this is possible!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Is the date field on the slicer from the date dimension table? Is there any relationship created between date dimension table and fact table base on the field [Date] of date dimension table and the field [Date Opened] of fact table? If both of them are Yes, you can follow the steps to get it:

1. Apply the visual-level filter to display the data of the visual that you want to filter by "Date Closed"

• Click on the visual that you want to filter by "Date Closed".
• Go to the Filters pane on the right side of the screen.
• You will see three filtering options: Visual level, Page level, and Report level.
• Under the Visual level filters, add the "Date Closed" field.
• Set the filter to the specific date range you need for this visual.

  

2. Edit the interaction

• If you have a slicer on the page that is set to the "Date Opened" and it's affecting all visuals, you can prevent it from affecting the specific visual.
• Select the slicer, then go to the Format tab in the ribbon, and choose "Edit Interactions".   
• You'll see icons appear on the other visuals indicating the type of interaction they have with the selected slicer.
• Click on the "no impact" icon (usually represented by a circle with a line through it) on the visual that you want to filter by "Date Closed".
