So this is my first time coming across netsuite. I am a BI Developer building reports in powerbi. I got a client request to replicate reports of netsuite into powerbi. How do i know what tables are used in that report and what are the options of exporting those tables in order to recreate the report in powerbi.
I am trying to achieve the above from yesterday but has been failed to accomplish anything. I know there is a REST API option which lets developers export data from netsuite. I have fair amount of experience working with APIs. I can export data from available end points. The only thing which is making my progress at halt is " How do i know what tables/record types are used in a report and the join conditions if any" If i know this maybe i can pull the data with the relevant endpoint from its REST API.
Any help is greatly Appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi @danextian Thank you for your prompt response.
Hi @unrelatedImage , In additon to @danextian response , i have added some more alternative approaches.
NetSuite reports are built using record types and fields. It does not display the table-level metadata and standard reports directly. you can try below options.
1. Use the Report Builder: Open the report in NetSuite and Click on Edit or Customize option, under the “Add Fields” section, it will display record types like transactions, accounts, etc and their associated fields.
2. Saved Searches are more flexible than reports and used for data extraction. If your report is based on a Saved Search, Open the Saved Search and Click Edit. The Saved Search shows the record type, fields and criteria (filters).
Note: Saved Searches are easier to replicate because they already define the joins and filters.
3. You can also use the Schema Browser in NetSuite, to see all fields and their internal IDs.
4. For exporting NetSuite Data to Power BI, three integration options between NetSuite and Power BI
a. REST API (Use NetSuite’s REST endpoints to pull data)
b. ODBC/JDBC Connector (Connect via SuiteAnalytics Connect)
c. Third-party ETL tools (UCeligo, Hevo, or Stitch)

A few years ago, I created a report using Netsuite data but I didn't use API but a GL exported to SFTP automatically then moved to a SharePoint folder using Power Automate. I was able to replicate the reports up to some extent - some parts required foreign currency translation adjustment data which couldn't be exported.
