Getting my data broken down by states?

Hi all!

I have my data broken down by states in one column but I want to be able to pull it in by regions with specific states.

How can I easily do that? Im new into power BI and really trying but feeling awful that I cant get it.

    Hi bv27718n

Group the state by regions : select the field of the states and create a new group

  • bv27718n well how you expect it to work if you don't have region information, you need to bring that in. How you define region?

Just do it this way, it's easier and faster for you. Follow the table from Github or anywhere on the net.

I agree with parry2k , you first need to define the concept of regions, nothing that indicates in your file.

okay so i would do west, south, mid west and north east. within that would be the states, but how do i define that and add that in I guess

  • bv27718n again what is the definition of the region? Do you need to be more specific? Maybe there is a wiki page or other web URL that has states by region which you can pull in Power bI but first, you need to define when you say region, what does it actually mean?
