Good Afternoon,
I have a Dashboard (report) with over 30 pages. Hence I built a Home Page as the very first page. It will NOT be correct solution to simply inserrt a Back button because the Viewer may navigate through many pages before realising he/she she needs to go back to the Home Page (first page) directly from the present page that they are visiting.
Would creating a simple Page Navigator to the Home Page on every page be the best solution ?
Kind Regards
Well I can group the pages in to around twelve broad groups (so 1-4 pages per group). Would a solution of "Bookmarks plus Buttons" still be the effective in this scenario ?
If you are to try this i'd suggest you hide built-in Power BI left-side Pages pane.
Level 1 for Global Navigation, (This refers to a custom navigation area that you design inside the report canvas itself) create consistent top-level buttons for:
Home
Group 1
Group 2
…
These buttons navigate using Page navigators.
Level 2 for In-Group Navigation. Inside each group, create bookmarks and consolidate those 1–4 pages within a single page if you are comfortable maintaining the bookmarks.
Hi,
Would a full page Navigator with 30+ pages look quite clutter and hard to scan for your users? I wouldnt do this for a report of this size if in your situation.
Instead of 30+ pages, it would be less overwhelming if you could group report pages into logical sections such as “Sales”, “Finance”, “Operations” etc. , use Bookmarks plus Buttons to show/hide section menus, but always include a Home button:)
Yes — in your scenario, a Bookmark is absolutely the best and most correct solution.
In fact, it’s the standard Power BI pattern used specifically for this problem: jump to Home from anywhere, without forcing users to press Back repeatedly.
make sure have these settings In Bookmark settings:
Data = OFF (important – avoids resetting filters)
Display = ON
Current Page = ON
All visuals = ON
Hi @F_Reh,
I would suggest you to use a “Page Navigator” or a dedicated “Home” navigation button. Page Navigation actions that can take a user directly to any page in the report or the Home page.
Insert >> Page Navigator Button
Pick a style (e.g., “Blank” or “Home”)
In the Format pane:
Turn on Action
Action type = Page navigation
Destination = Home Page
Thanks,
