Good Morning
I have two tables an open event table which is an excel document and details the name, address of people attending and the date of the event. The other is an application table which is linked directly to the source system.
What i am trying to do is find out of the people who attended the open event who submitted an application
Some of the issues i have is that people can attend more than one open event and submit more than one application and dont submit the application on the same day as the event.
The event dates are sporadic throughout the year but the application data is everyday
I am joining the tables on a conctenation of name and postcode of the attendee and the the applicant.
Any ideas how to bring back the event date into the application table
| Application Date | Name | Postcode | Concate |
| 16th Jan 2023 | aaa | aaa | aaa-aaa |
| 26th Feb 2023 | aaa | aaa | aaa-aaa |
| 29th April | bbb | bbb | bbb-bbb |
| event date | name | postcode | concate |
| 14th Jan 2023 | aaa | aaa | aaa-aaa |
| 14th Jan 2023 | bbb | bbb | bbb-bbb |
| 26th Apr 2023 | aaa | aaa | aaa-aaa |
Not sure if this is possible with the data that i have.
I do have a date table where the relationship is active with the application table and inactive with the event table
Thank you
Maureen
Hi
Thank you for responding. Other than the event date there is no unique reference number for the event. Each person attending is given an attendee number but these will be replicated at each event so not a unique field. I can add one in as it is an excel spreadsheet that is being uploaded. The event is an open day for college so yes potential students can apply prior to attending the event on the same day as the event or after the event or a combination of these and can apply for multiple courses - each course will have a different course reference number.
Hope this helps
Not sure if it can be done in power bi.
Hi @Anonymous
Does every event has an unique value column like event id or event name in your tables? As you said, people may not submit the application on the same day as the event, so we don't know which application is submitted for which event from the current sample data. Another question is that is it possible that one person may submit more than one application for the same event on a day or on different days before the event? And can one person submit an application just on the same day as the event or on a day after the event?
We need to have clear answers for these questions before we can move on.
