Gathering correct information from a database?

Hi all,

I've just started using Power BI for the first time today and was wondering if it's possible to help me with an issue.

I'm importing information from a SQL database, with columns such as ParameterName, Date, Time, Value etc. I would like to create a visual to see the trends of a certain ParameterName over time. However, it's currently grouping the ParameterNames together and adding the values together. This is not desirable and I would like to avoid this.

Example
ParameterName  Date         Time     Value
# of Bikes            1/1/2012  6:00am  12
# of Bikes            1/2/2012  9:00am  34
# of Bikes            1/2/2012  10:00am 40
# of Reservations 1/2/2012 6:00am  6
# of Reservations 1/2/2012 9:00am  18

But when I create a visual, its grouping them by ParameterName, so it just says '# of Bikes: 86'.

I've tried playing around with the database in the Power Query Editor, but no luck.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Erica,

Which visual did you use? Maybe you can add Date or Time as Legend.

Hi Dale,

I used a Line Chart visual. Thank you.
Unfortunately the Clustered column chart will not be suitable as I have too many parameters, but I think playing around with the axis was the best solution.

Thanks,

Erica

Try click the down arrow for the Value and choose "Do not summarize"?

Hi Greg,

This option isn't appearing for me. I get Sort Ascending/Descending, Clear Filter,Remove Empty and Number Filters. I think it may have been an axis problem.
