I have a Power BI report connected to an Azure DevOps OData source.
Everything was working fine until last week, when I started receiving the following error: "Credentials provided for the OData source are invalid."
The issue is puzzling because my credentials are valid, and I am the admin of the Azure DevOps project. Even stranger, the connection works perfectly when using a colleague's credentials, even though they only have a contributor role.
I’ve double-checked all the permissions, and everything appears to be in order. I’ve also tried clearing the permissions in Power BI Desktop and reauthenticating, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
Additionally, when I investigated further in Power Query, I found that I can access the OData metadata, but it's the access to the tables (e.g. WorkItems) that is forbidden.
I’m out of ideas at this point. Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a solution?
Hi.
Thanks for the solution VijayP offered, and i want to offer some more information for user to refer to.
hello @Leursn , based on your description, you cannot see the workitems table, please make sure you must be granted the View analytics permission, you can refer to the following link about it.
You can check the related permission is be set. you can refer to the following link.
And you can refer to the following link to refer to.

Hello @Anonymous,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, the information you provided didn’t resolve my issue.
I’ve verified that in Azure DevOps:
However, the issue persists. In facvt, the same problem is described in this thread you provided: Azure DevOps: "Access to this resource is forbidden" - Microsoft Fabric Community. As of now, no solution has been identified (the thread dates back to 2021).
Do you have any additional insights or suggestions to address this problem?
@Leursn This thread may be helpful to you.

Hello @VijayP ,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, the link you provided didn’t resolve the issue either. The solution described involved using a standard OData connection instead of an on-premises gateway, but I’m already using a standard connection.
Do you have any other suggestions or potential solutions I could try?
