Filters not working across linked data sources

Hi there -

I have a report that has been active for a while, and I've just encountered a problem I never had before. this is a simplified version of what's wrong:

I have two data sources (Excel spreadsheet). 1 is participant information, the other is project information. I have a column entitled "project code" linked (many to one relationship, cross filter both ways.) I have tried to add a filter for this project code to apply to all pages. However, no matter if I use the field "project code" in the participant spreadsheet or the project spreadsheet, it ONLY filters the visuals from the same spreadsheet and all the rest appear "(blank)". I have NO idea how this happened, as it used to work fine. any ideas on what might be happening?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Create a third table (with only 1 column) which lists only the unique project codes.  Create a relationship (Many to One and Single) from the Project column of the participant information and project information tables to the third table.  Remove any relationship between the participant information and project information tables.  To any visual, drag the Project code column from the third table.
