Filterring issue, workaround needed

Hi!

I am building the Product Roadmap. Apart from the gantt chart i am going to use some supportvie vizualizations to show other important information, such as Matrix with countries affected.

My problem is, that when I filter by particular country all other indicators dissapeard.

e.g my lvl3 prod 1 affects only Ireland, lvl3 prod 2 affects Germany and Switzerland, and lvl3 prod 3 affects, Germany, Ireland, UK and Switzerland.

When no filters are allpied, matrix looks okroadmap.jpg

, but when I apply filter = "Ireland" matrix show correct products, but blue indicators from other countries dissapear (so in product 3  i would like also to see blue indicators in Germany, Uk and Switzerland)

roadmap2.jpg

And my questions is- how to tell to powerBi, show me all products which at least affects Ireland, and show all other countries indicators in the matrix, if not only Ireland is affected.

Please share me your ideas! 🙂

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Kopek ,

I’m confused about your requirement. Can you please share more details ?

  1. Are the columns from the same table?  If they are, you could try to create a irrelative table which input the values of countries to as a slicer to filter the matrix. Then create a measure which is filtered by the slicer and put it into matrix.1.png2.png
  2. Or are they from the different tables? And what the relationship among them?
  3. What  effect do you want? When you choose Ireland,  will the other countries show blank ? Or do you want to highlight Ireland ?

Maybe  you could post some sample data and the excepted output. Then we can help you as soon as possible.

Hi @v-xuding-msft ,

Many thanks for coming back to me on this!

I wanted to prepare some sample data for you and noticed where the problem is, but I do not understand it at all!!

I prepared some sample data in the excel and connected it to the PowerBi, and everything worked as I expected 😮 , but it works with SAMPLE DATA ONLY 😞

With the real data it does not work at all, and there is only one difference beetween that data:

1. SAMPLE DATA:

Sample.jpg

Columns J-M are done in excel, maunally, based on the values in column F (e.g. when column F contains "UK", column J =1, when column F contains Uk, Germany, columns J & K = 1 , columns L.M = 0)

2. Real Data:

Looks the same as sample data, but COLUMNS J-M are done using CONDITIONAL COLUMNS in the query editor based on the same rules.

The problem is that , when I would like to filter report by coutry affected, let's say it will be Ireland I would like to see all other indicators in my martix (ofc, if the activity affects other countries), so my expect resolutions is like that:

expected.jpgCountry affected11 filter is done by using: split column by delimiter (comma), and unpivoting only that columns in the query editor

When I do the same with my real data and filter by Ireland , all other values (for other countries) in the matrix are automatically = 0.

Real Data before filter is applied:

bezfiltra.jpg

Real Data filterred by ireland:

(in the 3rd line I expect having also UK marked in Green, and in the 4th line i expect all (irl, germany, switzerland and Uk) countries in green

by IRL.jpg

Real data filterred by Germany:

- i do not understand this at all,,, I expect here to have all countries in green , since all are affected (see screenshot before flitering - last line)

what's more ireland shows - 0 and it's green , Switzerland and UK also shows 0 and are white. T

he conditional formating is the same for all columns.

I think there is some problem with some interactions, and I do not understand that.

Could you please let me know what to do in order to sort out that issue?

If this post is to chaotic, please shout.. will try to explain it once again.

p.s all data comes from the same table!
