I'm trying to create a relationship between two sql server views. Yes, the one col is all unique values, the other has duplicates. Yes, they are the same data type. This works fine in SSMS, not so much in PBI.
Any insights? I'm also going to elevate this to a ticket with Microsoft Premium Support, so when they fix this for me, I'll come back here and post the result, unless the community beats them.
@jogliddenwould like to microsoft premium support. These are the only two tables in your model? Can you check in your master table doesn't have any null/blank values?

@parry2k, good question, and yes I failed to mention that.
No, there are no blank/null values in either table, for the fields I am attempting to relate.

It's direct query. You wouldn't be able to connect to the source. I only do direct query. This sort of operation used to work, and I am now suspecting that something is broken with the latest release of PBI.
Update: I uninstalled & reinstalled PBI (latest version), and the issue persists.
I attempted to force the relationship by just hitting 'Enter' (whereupon PBI generates an error and you get the opportunity to submit the error to MS, which I always do). There is another post on this issue from 10-11-2016: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Filter-direction-isn-t-valid-for-this-relationship/m-p/7721...
When attempting this, it appears to work, but I am VERY hesitant to continue developing my report, especially drill-throughs etc.
I wish someone from MS would give me some feedback on these constant errors, and how to deal with it, or what the problem is.
