Filter automatically applied on new visuals

Hello all,

Whenever I try to create a new visual, I see two filters automatically applied on the visual. It happens only in one report page not in any other page when I create a new visual. Below is the snapshot of the a new visual with two filters applied upon its creation.

Any idea on how to resolve it?

Many thanks in advance,

Obiza

Hi @burakkaragoz,

Thank you so much for your prompt response - I tried all options but wasn't helpful.

Later on, I noticed that I drilled-down in another visual on the same page which was causing this filter automatically applied on all new visual. So, I resolved it by disabling the interaction between that specific visual and the new visuals.

Thank you the support,

Obaid

Hi @Obiza ,

This usually happens when there's a page-level filter or a slicer that's affecting all visuals by default. Even if you don’t explicitly apply filters to a new visual, Power BI will inherit any existing filters from the page or report context.

Here’s what you can check:

  1. Page-level filters: Go to the “Filters” pane and see if there are any filters applied at the page level. If so, they’ll automatically apply to any new visual you create on that page.
  2. Slicers: If there are slicers on the page (even hidden ones), they can also apply filters to new visuals.
  3. Sync Slicers: Sometimes slicers synced across pages can cause this behavior. Check the “View” tab and open the “Sync Slicers” pane to see if anything is affecting that page.
  4. Bookmarks: If the page is tied to a bookmark that includes filters, it might be restoring those filters when you interact with the page.

Try creating a new blank page and see if the issue persists there. If not, then it’s definitely something scoped to that specific page.

Let me know how it goes!
