I am trying to only show the result "PASS" or "FAIL" by pulling the text from the string in the matrix from the attached image. The only strings with "PASS" or "FAIL" in their rows are the lines titled "Gateway", but i'm getting repeated values for text strings that don't have either of those results. Essentailly, i want to only show "PASS" or "FAIL" for those lines from "Gateway" and no others.
Hi @Anonymous ,
I’m not so clear about your data structure, could you explain in more details?
How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly
If your matrix column fields are from same column, you can enable visual level filter on that column to filter 'Status' value.

The only rows in the "Status: Pass/Fail" column that should be presenting a "PASS" or "FAIL" result should be in rows where "PASS" or "FAIL" are in the strings of text. Like in the rows with "Gateway" in their text that end in "PASS" or "FAIL".
HI @Anonymous ,
Why you not remove hierarchy fields bottom level? AFAIK, power bi can't recognize 'all select' and unselected, so you can't use normal filter to remove all detail records. If you add all hierarchy fields and use on matrix row fields, I don't think it is possible to hide all detail level records.
BTW, if you manually filter all records of one category on detail level, power bi will also hide its parent record.

Xiaoxin Sheng
