Field Parameters and Hierarchy: Can you filter on each hierarchy and modify the order it displays?

Field Parameter and Hierarchy.JPG

I created a Hierarchy and field parameter to present the 6 slicers.  When clicking on the slicers, it modifies the data below. Works great!  I have two questions:

  1. How do I filter on individual hierarchies?  Example, for Active, only show active. When I apply to this visual or the whole page, it doesn't show all the data.  Would a measure work in this case?
  2. How do I change the order of the slicer?  I'd rather have it as Ideation, Discovery, Pending Start, Active, Paused, Closed.  Is this possible?  Another measure?  I tried sorting under Model View, but wasn't provided an option to manual select the way I wanted the items sorted.

Hi @deeave ,

A ragged hierarchy is also created when there are blank values for a category at any hierarchy level. For example, if Employee A has three levels of management (manager > vice-president > CEO) but doesn't have a "director", the data table row for Employee A will have three values (names) and one blank. While you can use the Filters pane to deselect blank values for "director", doing so also prevents the other three values from being included in the slicer for Employee A. As a result, Employee A will be removed from the hierarchy slicer.

You need to create a column with sorting order, and then sort your category by this column.

I created a field parameter (dynamic hierarchy)  and modified to look like the first attachment.  This creates a slicer with 6 buttons.  When I click on the buttons, the data in the table populates below.  My challenge is two things that I'm not sure are possible.

  1. Can you apply a filter based on the button you select?  Right now, when I apply a filter, it applies to the whole table.  Should I be using a different visual to display the data?
    • For example, if I select Ideation, I only want to show those that are not promoted to discovery. Currently applying this filter results in the data being blank when other slicer buttons are selected.
  2. Ability to change the colors of each button within the slicer (I think I found a workaround to this, so not a priority) - you can't change the colors, but you can put the colors next to the slicer.

This is the hiearchy I created with the Field Parameter option.

These are the slicers that I would LOVE to color like the ones above and sort, but I don't see any option to do so while using the dynamic hiearchy.  I am aware how to do it in the values, but when the Dynamic Hiearchy is added, it only adds the Value4 (groups) and you cannot sort inside.
