FILTERS IN PBI SERVICE . URGENT

Good afternoon

for a couple of days something happens to me that I do not know how to solve and that causes me serious problems

When you upload a report to the service, this button is activated and the filters applied on the desktop are not respected. I must press it so that everything works properly again. I DON'T WANT THIS OPTION TO BE TURNED ON. I need to know the way or the menu option so that this button is never activated and that when uploading the reports, it is not active. THANKS A LOT!

If you use a bookmark to get to the page with the filters that change, you will need to update the bookmark before publishing the report.

Simply go to the page you have set the filters on in PowerBI desktop, open the Bookmark pane (via the View Menu Tab), right click on the ... of the page's bookmark, and click update.  Publish the report and it should now be fine.

I didn't need to change the settings for Persistent Filters in this use case.

Best regards

I see that it has been quite a while since this query was made and the same has happened to me with my dashboard when I published it on the web. But if in any case this solution helps others, I comment:

I don't know if Marcela's report had navigation or data presentation bookmarks, but if it was the case, what happened to me is that when I tried to apply a measure as a filter, in the desktop version it worked, but when I went to the initial page of the report, always in the desktop version, and returned to the page where I left the filter applied, it was distorted, and the same happened when it was published.

Despite blocking the filter in both options (Desktop and Online) the filter was always unconfigured, then. was that I discovered that when I had active buttons with navigation bookmarks between the pages, the problem was that the bookmark I had configured for my report had not been updated, that is why it was deconfigured, because the filter without the configuration that I needed was fixed, it had been recorded in the bookmark without that configuration, so all I did was make the filter adjustments, open the bookmarks panel and select Update so that it would be recorded with the filter settings I needed, the same I did with the cover of the report, and when I published it the filter did not get unconfigured.

I clarify, in my case, the reason was that I did not update the bookmarks with the modifications I made after having published it. I hope the information is useful to you,

Hello

If it is helpful within the settings of the pbix file. go to File> Options and Settings > options > Current File (Report Settings) > Persistent Filters. In this last section mark the option that appears there so that users who consult your report do not see the option you mention available.

Best regards

Hi @Syndicate_Admin , Try locking the filter before publishing. Here's a guide : Format filters in Power BI reports - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

That is just the "Reset to default" button.  Any time you apply a filter to a report that button will become active.

When you publish a .pbix file the way the filters are set in the file are considered "default".

When you interact with a report the Power BI service will remember the way you had the report filtered when you viewed it last.

This means that if you filter the report on the service the "Reset to default button" will turn on.  If you publish a new version of the report, when you go to it in the service it will show you the filters you had applied the last time you viewed it.

Try this, go to the report in the service and hit "Reset to default", then publish the report from the .pbix file.  When you go to the report again in the service you will see that button is not on because you had not changed the filters the last time you went to the report.

If you then change a slicer you will see the button turn on.

There is no way to disable and you wouldn't want to anyway.

Hello

It doesn't work like that for me. I publish a report. I consult it in the service and at first it does not apply the filters that were based on the desktop file. It shows the data without filters and you have to press the button to be able to see the data that is supposed to have been published.

When uploaded to the service, it publishes the file with all the data, without any of the filters defined in the deskstop... it is very unreliable that in order to view the desired report, you must first press the button.

I give you an example: on the desktop, I disable with a filter 5 providers that I do not want to be seen in the service. I publish it. When I go to the report, it shows me those hidden providers and I must press this button to hide them... Before it didn't work like that, I respected the filters applied on the desktop.

I do not know if there is any menu option that you have to tikdar so that this does not happen, I do not know if it is a PowerBi error but it generates many problems because each user I must tell each user to press the button if you want to see the correct data.

Thank you very much for the help.

Marcela
