Is it possible to expand just one item in columns but not others?
In the example below, the columns have two dimensions - Date(Year) and Region. I want to see each region and region total for 2025 but only region total for 2024. However, when I expand the Year, it expands both 2024 and 2025.

Hi @Kazu,
We sincerely appreciate your query raised through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
As per my understanding, the native Power BI Matrix visual currently does not support the selective expansion of column hierarchies. Therefore, expanding only the year 2025 while keeping the year 2024 collapsed is not directly achievable.
However, you may consider the following workaround, which could help address the issue:
Create two separate Matrix visuals one filtered to display totals for the year 2024, and the other with an expanded view for the year 2025.
Use the Selection Pane to overlay the visuals, and apply Bookmarks to toggle their visibility as per your preference.

Hello!
I have a similar problem. Maybe there is a custom visual that someone can suggest that would do this?
Hi arca123,
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
As per my understanding, the native Power BI Matrix visual does not support selective expansion of individual column hierarchy nodes. The expand or collapse behavior applies uniformly to all items at the same hierarchy level. Therefore, there is no built-in Microsoft visual that provides per-node selective expansion.
As alternatives, you may consider custom visuals such as Inforiver Matrix or Zebra BI Tables if you require this functionality.
Please continue to use the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum for any further queries.
Thank you.

I'm afraid power bi is not supporting this , maybe you can try this 3rd party visual for it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xir0gmFUiQI&ab_channel=Inforiver
