Essbase connector - Performance

I'm able to connect to Essbase through PBI, but the performance is very slow even when trying to pull in a little amount of data. Most of the time the Essbase server will crash when trying to direct query or import to PBI. Why is the performance so bad, what is a good starting point to find a solution?

Power Query has a Diagnostics tool that can provide data that will help. You should look at that article and then get with your Essbase administrator and see if you can figure out the issue. Power Query definitely should not be crashing your database server.
