Error connecting DirectQuery with Imported Data

I need to created a calculated column that uses fields from a directquery source and from an imported source. When i try to created the calculated column using RELATED(), i get prompted an error saying that tht one of the dimension "either doesn’t exist or doesn’t have a relationship to any table available in the current context". Relationship has been established between the two tables. How can i resolve this?

@elliee , related can only work 1-M  relation to copy data from 1 side to many sides.

In direct query only related is possible. other options like related table and lookup etc

@amitchandak I have a 1-M relationship in my model whereby the imported excel source is 1 and DirectQuery table is M. Do you mean that related can't be used across imported source and DirectQuery?
