Hello @Icey

How are you?

Steps didn't solve the issue.

I had to copy the information from xlsb file and move to another excel file xlsm.

In my opinion, the power bi can't collect any data from excel file extension xlsb.

Many tks for your time and attention.

Hi @vqps8866 ,

Yes, Power BI Desktop doesn't support to connect directly to XLSB file currently.

Here is an idea about Excel Binary file supporting, and you can vote it up.

And I find that someone was able to fix this connection issue by downloading the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.exe file from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255. Hope it also works for you.

Best Regards,

Icey

Hi @vqps8866 ,

One possible situation for reference:

If the error occurs when you attempt to open an .XLS file (an Excel 97-2003 workbook), you can avoid using the Access Database Engine by opening the .XLS file in Excel, and saving it as an XLSX file.

Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-access-database-errors#solution-3.

Best Regards,

Icey

Looks like you need to install Access. Is your Excel file connecting to an Access database?

Hello @Greg_Deckler

Many tks for your information.

In fact I'm trying to collect data from 2 excel file to create a new dashboard.

I installed the AccessDatabaseEngine_X64, but I had the same issue.

So i opened  a new excel file and I pasted the data from both files to the new one. The new file was added without issue.

Many tks.

Weird.
