'Enter Data' Limitation

Hi Everyone

I have a Power BI report using a dataset that connects to data via Analysis services, SQL Server and an excel file.

My issue is that I cannot use our company data gateway which after much testing can only be due to the excel file because if I exclude that source from my report I can use the gateway.

I assume this is because the gateway cannot access the file even though I've tried locating it on Onedrive, Sharepoint and my computer. Is there anywhere else I could try?

As my excel data is static (Budget data for the year) one alternative I thought is to create a table via the 'Enter Data' option however it seems my file of 7000 rows and 8 columns is too large as I get the message 'The clipboard contents are too large to be pasted into the table'.

Does anyone have any suggestions please on either issue?

Thank you so much in advance!

birdie29 Couple thoughts: 1) did you add the excel file as a data source in the gateway (assuming you are using the OPDG) 2) You could always create a table in SQL to house the data... shouldn't have any issues there.

Anonymous Thanks for your quick reply! I must be honest I didn't set up the gateway our IT Systems Manager did but it is a OPDG connection. They are both great suggestions so I'm grateful for your solutions.

I suppose my only reservation is that I would like to be able to control the excel connections myself so it's easier for me to chop and change how the data may look, hence my desire to be able to use the 'Enter Data' function. The reason being Power BI reporting is only just getting started where I work so the requests are constantly changing.

      Thanks again for the help!
