Orgs only have one Cohort and a Cohort has multiple Orgs.
I have 3 visuals
a. The Org slicer
b. The Cohort slicer
c. A table visual listing all the Orgs
I need to set up slicers so that:
1. The Org slicer only filters the Cohort slicer. When an Org is chosen, a single Cohort is displayed in the Cohort slice.
2. The Table visual lists all the Orgs associated with the single Cohort
I tried clicking on the Table and then pressing the Edit Interactions button underneath the Format button on the ribbon.
From there I clicked None on the Org slicer and the Filter button underneath the Cohort slicer (see screenshot below).
This did not work. When select an Org, the table only lists a single Org.
Does anyone else have suggestions to get these interactions to work?

I think the issue is that Edit Interactions only works with certain visuals. I got it to work with other visuals but not the ones I wanted
Hi @jhut ,
May I ask if you have resolved this issue? Please let us know if you have any further issues, we are happy to help.
Thank you.
Hi @jhut ,
I just wanted to check if the issue has been resolved on your end, or if you require any further assistance. Please feel free to let us know, we’re happy to help!
Thank you.

Hi @jhut ,
There’s a fundamental limitation in Power BI’s visual interactions that explains why this can’t be fully achieved through interactions alone.
Visual interactions can only control whether a slicer filters a visual, or whether it has no impact on a visual. They cannot control which values appear inside another slicer because of this, the requirement is not reliably supported using interactions by themselves.
You can try this workaround, Instead of relying on visual interactions, the correct pattern is to let the data model handle the filtering by introducing a small bridge/dimension table.
Create a Bridge Table
OrgCohort = DISTINCT(
SELECTCOLUMNS(
'FactTable',
"OrgName", 'FactTable'[OrgName],
"CohortName", 'FactTable'[CohortName]
))
Create Relationships
Set the following relationships:
OrgCohort[OrgName] > FactTable[OrgName]
OrgCohort[CohortName] > FactTable[CohortName]
Both should be active and single direction.
Cross-filter direction: OrgCohort > FactTable
Use the Bridge Table in Slicers
Org slicer: OrgCohort[OrgName]
Cohort slicer: OrgCohort[CohortName]
Table visual: Fields from FactTable
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
not clear about your question. could you pls proivde some sample data and expected output?

Hi @jhut, the interaction between visuals is side-dependent: when you selected a table and changed the interactions, you did it from the table to the visuals. So once you click on the table, this is what will happen with the slicers.
From your post, it seems you are trying to obtain the opposite behavior. So first select the slicer and define the interactions with another slicer and the table. Then do the same for the second slicer by firstly selecting it.
Good luck with your project 🙂
