Hi PowerBI people, I'm trying to help my organization deploy a PowerBI dashboard to multiple Dynamics 365 environments, all of which have the same tables and structure. I'm using a Dataverse connection to Dynamics Online.
I've found articles about how to create a parameter and set the source for all queries to that parameter, so that saves some time by letting me change the data source in one place, but I'd still have to manually update it and save a different version of the dashboard for every Dynamics environment. I don't have access to all of our clients' instances and don't even know the URLs (just our internal dev and demo environments).
I'm hoping somebody knows a way to dynamically retrieve the URL or dataverse connection from whichever Dynamics environment the report is deployed to as a parameter so that it automatically shows the dashboard with that environment's data. I'm used to deploying SSRS reports as .rdl files, which can be built off a dev instance connection but published to any Dynamics environment without needing to manually update the datasource. Is there some way to do this with PowerBI reports?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Ben
