Dynamic Slicer Value - Basis User Type

Hello,

Please excuse if this is a rudimentary question. I have created a sales data visualization for my organization on desktop. My sales team is divided into Sales Zones, and Sales Sub-Zones - e.g.

North Zone

     Sub Zone 1

    Sub Zone 2

East Zone

    Sub Zone 3

    Sub Zone 4

    Sub Zone 5

....and so on, which accounts for 4 zones, and 30 sub zones cumulatively under the  respective zones. These are available under the slicer i have integrated in each of the reports' page.

My CMO has access to all the zones and subzones, but he wants me to make the Slicer Values dynamic  basis the user type. Which means if the Zonal Sales Head of North Logs in - he can only see North Zone and its respective sub zones, and similarly if a user of Subzone under North Zone logs in - he can only see his sub zone and not other zones.

Can anybody guide on can this be achieved, through online sharing  and access ?

Regards,

Sri

Hi @sirramzy,

What you want to achieve is not supported in Desktop, but you can apply RLS in service. Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI can be used to restrict data access for given users.

Define roles in desktop. You need to define four roles for each Zone.

After publishing report to service, add users or groups to corresponding roles where they belong to.
